Commercial Pilot License
The Commercial Pilot License is for students wishing to become professional airplane pilots or those who'd like to improve their skills as a pilot by learning to fly with a higher degree of precision and academics. The commercial rating is required before a pilot may be compensated or hired by a company to fly.
Be at least 18 years old
Currently have at least a fixed wing Private Pilot License
Hold at least a current FAA Third Class Medical Certificate (second class required to receive compensation)
Complete Ground School Training
Acquire at least 250 flight hours, a minimum 100 hours of solo/PIC (Pilot In Command) flight, 50 hours of cross country, 10 hours of solo flight
Pass FAA written test (knowledge exam) and checkride (practical test)

3. Packages - American Aviation provides an all inclusive training package for the Commercial License. The Commercial License training package the cost is $9,325. This includes 40 hours of flight instruction in a Piper Archer, 40 hours of ground instruction, all necessary books & materials and one practical test and one written test fee. The regular pricing for all that is included in the package is over $11,000. This is a package for single engine only.
For multi-engine add-on the price is $6,390. This includes 20 hours of flight instruction in a Piper Twin Comanche, 10 hours of ground instruction and all necessary book & materials and one practical test fee and one written test fee. The regular price for all that is included in this package is over $7,800.
Total for both single and multi-engine is $15,715.
It is recommended to begin the commercial training close to having the 250 hour requirement to prevent having to build time versus do flight instruction towards the rating. Time building can be accomplished by purchasing block time in 10 hours chunk where the buyer receives another hour free. Military customer get two hours free when they purchase a block of time.
