Commercial Pilot License 

The Commercial Pilot License is for students wishing to become professional airplane pilots or those who'd like to improve their skills as a pilot by learning to fly with a higher degree of precision and academics. The commercial rating is required before a pilot may be compensated or hired by a company to fly.

Eligibility Requirements​

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Currently have at least a fixed wing Private Pilot License

  • Hold at least a current FAA Third Class Medical Certificate (second class required to receive compensation)

  • Complete Ground School Training

  • Acquire at least 250 flight hours, a minimum 100 hours of solo/PIC (Pilot In Command) flight, 50 hours of cross country, 10 hours of solo flight

  • Pass FAA written test (knowledge exam) and checkride (practical test)

Pricing Information 

American Helicopters provides a multitude of pricing options for the Commercial License.

1. Block Time - Purchase 10 hours of flight instruction and get an extra hour for free!

2. Pay As You Go

3. Packages - American Aviation provides an all inclusive training package for the Commercial License as long as you have the prerequisite hours required. . The Commercial License training package the cost is $12,500. This includes 50 hours of flight instruction in a Cessna 172 or Piper Archer, 40 hours of ground instruction, all necessary books & materials and one practical test and one written test fee.  This is a package for single engine only.

It is recommended to begin the commercial training close to having the 200-250 hour requirement to prevent having to build time versus do flight instruction towards the rating. Time building can be accomplished by purchasing block time in 10 hour blocks where the buyer receives another hour free.
